The one-day event which marks the celebration of Mathematics in the region was organised by the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Mathematics and Statistics at AUS.

The primary objective of the UAE-Math Day is to bring together mathematicians from UAE and neighbouring countries to a forum in which they can exchange up-to-date ideas concerning different branches of mathematics as well as development in research and education. It hopes to become a stimulant for further developments in the research fields and creativities in mathematics in the region.

Professor Saber N. Elaydi from the Department of Mathematics, Trinity University in Texas, who was also the keynote speaker presented his theory of periodic difference equations developed by him following recent emerging questions in theoretical ecology on the global stability of periodically forced discrete population models. In his talk he introduced the notion of skew-product dynamical systems in its most simplified form.
