The German sanitary ware manufacturers filed a complaint about fake goods bearing their brand name being sold in the emirate. The SEDD followed up on this complaint, taking the necessary actions against those responsible in order to protect the consumer and ensure that similar commercial fraud cases will not recur.

Hamad Al Midfaa, Deputy Director of SEDD’s Legal Affairs Section, said : ‘In cooperation with other concerned parties, SEDD was able to send its inspectors to raid the infringer’s premises in Sharjah Industrial Area and seize all the counterfeit goods. Crackdown on commercial fraud would not have been possible without the cooperation of all parties, particularity the consumers.’

‘All divisions and sections at the SEDD are working together to monitor and control commercial fraud in the Sharjah, and to follow up on any complaints about consumer protection and counterfeit goods,’ he added.

The Department stresses that consumers should avoid counterfeit products and should not be attracted by cheap prices, particularly when dealing with consumables and electrical appliances, due to the potential negative environmental and health impact of using these fake goods, which do not comply with health and quality requirements.
