With the help of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the two organisations also helped clear the debts of some poor people and helped effect the release of some prisoners.

The Director of Al Jalfaar Development Centre, Bilal, said the assistance rendered to the needy by Al Khuriyat was timely. "We are also making sure that each family gets good meals for Iftar," he said.

The Deputy Director of Al Jalfaar Development Centre, Hadijah Mohamed, noted that the prisoners underwent counselling sessions and freeing them meant that they would now be useful and productive members of the society.
