An 18-year-old Emirati died and nine others sustained injuries in a seven-car pileup accident in Sharjah on Friday evening.
The accident was reported in Al Ghaya in Al Madam area at 6pm. The deceased succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Saturday.
Colonel Haran Mubarak, Director of Central Region Police, said the rescue team dispatched to the site found some of the victims stuck in their cars.
The police and civil defence rescued the injured and rushed them to Al Dhaid Hospital in Sharjah and Rashid Hospital in Dubai.
Col Mubarak said speeding and sudden lane changing caused the accident.
