2 killed, 4 hurt in accident

According to the police, the incident occurred at Al Zahra Street, near RAK Woman’s College, when the car, driven by an 18-year-old national, lost control and hit the power pole. The car came to a halt only when it turned upside down.

All the victims, five UAE nationals and a Palestinian, are in the age group of 14 to 18 years. The 14-year-old Mohammed Abdulaah Mansoor and the 18-year-old Palestinian Mohammed Kamal, were pronounced dead on arrival at the Emergency Department of Saqr Hospital.

This mishap takes the toll of traffic accidents in the emirate to 27 this year.

In a separate accident, a UAE national sustained serious injuries when the car in which he was travelling rammed into another car in Al Jazeerah Al Hamrah area. It took the rescuers several hours to rescue the 46-year-old victim from inside the disfigured vehicle. Rescue teams from RAK Civil Defence Department and Police Department rushed to the accidents’ sites and brought the victims to the Emergency Department of Saqr Hospital.
