Consultant Ibrahim Bu Melha, Adviser for Cultural Affairs and to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who also chairs the DLHQA organising committee, said that as many as 205 contestants would participate in the this edition of the competition.
“While male contestants will be tested at the Society of Reformation and Social Guidance in Al Qusais, female participants would be tested at the Woman Association Society in Al Hamriya,” he said.
This year, new segments have been added to the awards. “Expatriates, below 10, should memorise five parts of the Quran to be eligible for participation while nationals of the same age are only required to memorise three parts of the Quran,” said Ahmed Sager Al Suwaidi, Head of the Award Competitions Unit, noting that a new category for the art of recitation has been added.
According to Ahmed Al Zahed, Head of the Award Media Unit, the competitions and activities will be covered by Sama Dubai TV channel and the Noor Dubai Radio Station. “A 10-minute reportage on the Award will also be broadcast at all local channels,” he revealed.
Al Zahed said that prizes, including laptops, mobile phones and watches will be presented to those who attend the events.
