3,000 old taxis get new numbers

ABU DHABI — The Abu Dhabi Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars (TransAD) has integrated over 3,000 old taxis into the new numbering system over the past few weeks, Khalid Saleh Al Rashedi, General Manager of TransAD, said in a statement yesterday.

This new numbering system is to improve the quality of hire car services in the capital.

For other taxis which so far are not under the TransAD, Al Rashedi said, “TransAD is taking the necessary measures to integrate all old taxis into the new numbering scheme and include them under TransAD’s monitoring system.”

In case of any misconduct by taxi drivers or any complaint, passengers can approach the officials on the new toll-free number 600-535353.

Al Rashedi encouraged people to use the hotline to send any kind of complaints and comments concerning both old and new taxis and promised that proper action will be taken.

“All enquiries will be dealt with by a team of trained professionals and newly-appointed investigators,” he added.

Al Rashedi, said, “The centre is working hard on improving the taxi services within the Emirate to meet international standards and TransAD is currently planning more initiatives to better organise the quality of service.”

The TransAD has authorised seven national companies to operate in the new ‘hire a car’ scheme. They are Al Ghazal Transport, Arabia Taxi, Cars Taxi, Emirates Taxi, National Taxi, Q-Link Transport, and Tawasul Transport.
