Launched by the ADEC last year, eSIS aims to improve school performance and establish a comprehensive student database. The honouring ceremony held at Abu Dhabi Fairmont Hotel was attended by school principals and ADEC officials.
Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, ADEC Director-General, said that technology plays an important role in classroom instruction, administration of schools and the education sector at large. “Our students have greater ability to use technology, as the use of technological applications is part of our daily life experience.”
He added that 170,000 students in 400 public and private schools, family development institutions and adult education centres are benefitting from this pioneering system.
The ADEC aims to develop the educational sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in line with the highest international standards, using the latest technological applications.
Al Khaili said that through the use of eSIS, all student information data including student results, student absence, students transfer from one school to another and other important data pertaining to parents can be recorded accurately.
He pointed out that eSIS has been applied in 59 private schools applying MoE curriculum in order to electronically and accurately register their data.
“The second phase of eSIS will be launched next year and will allow parents to access the new system and communicate with school”, Dr Al Khaili clarified. He said that parents would be able to access the system using their Emirates ID in order to maintain privacy and confidentiality of information. “ADEC will be holding training sessions for parents on how best to utilise this system”, he added. Al Khaili called upon all schools to benefit from this system and emphasised that ADEC will be closely working with schools to ensure e-SIS is effectively implemented.
Walid Nasouli, eSIS Project Manager, briefed the audience on the efforts and achievements of school teams, outlining the implementation phases of the system that has been launched back in 2009 with 14,000 users.
