The DTC buses plying between Dubai and Sharjah, at present, will be extended till Ajman. Over 50 buses will operate on this route.
The agreement was signed with Ajman Transport, a government corporation established by Decree No. 4 of 2005, between Mohammed Humaid Al Marri, Assistant Director General, DTC, and Abdul Kareem Abdullah Al Abdool, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ajman Transport at the DTC offices.
According to the agreement, two stations shall be allocated for DTC buses at Ajman Museum Square area and Shaikh Zayed Road in Ajman.
"Ticket selling facilities shall be set up to provide transportation services to the public from 7am until 10pm at the rate of at least one trip every hour and additional trips to be added at peak hours as per the agreement between the two corporations from time to time," said Al Abdool.
Al Marri said the value of tickets between the destinations shall be Dh3 per trip from Ajman to Sharjah and Dh7 from Ajman to Dubai. The agreement shall be valid for one year and renewal will be under similar terms.
Al Marri said the agreement aims at improving the transportation sector in the UAE and activate group transportation services between Ajman, Sharjah and Dubai.
He said the agreement provides for safe and comfortable transportation, which would also reduce the traffic jam on the roads connecting the three emirates and consequently reduce traffic accidents.
The two corporations will equally share the revenue generated from the trips, Al Marri said, adding that the agreement enhances the bus transportation service between Sharjah and Dubai which was a huge success due to the coordination between DTC and STC.
