This summer was the best ever season for Abu Dhabi's Yas Island, which attracted the largest number of visitors to date.
The island's management announced a 50 per cent increase in visitor numbers at the two key attractions, with an unprecedented 600,000 people visiting Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld during summer 2016.
"This summer's success, marked by a record increase in visitors is testament to the appeal of Yas Island's growing and dynamic collection of attractions and a record we look forward to achieving annually," said Mohammed Abdulla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, which leads the development of Yas Island.
Key factors for the large number of visitors to the island were believed to include the two new rides at new Ferrari World, the record-breaking Flying Aces roller coaster and the family ride Benno's Great Race. Both rides launched just before the beginning of summer this year.
News of the record breaking summer also comes ahead of Yas Island's brand relaunch, which will be revealed during the last week of September, marking the next chapter in the Island's evolution.
"...This summer's success is a harbinger for what will be a truly memorable next chapter in the Yas Island story," added the CEO.
