Want to own a coveted special car plate? Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 80 licensing plates in its forthcoming 96th public auction on Saturday, September 30, at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel.
Plates on offer comprise three, four and five digits under codes F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, and T. The public bidding will start at 4.30 pm on auction day but registration for interested bidders will start on Sunday, September 24.
"The wide participation of the public in online or open auctions, and the positive competition to obtain numbers underscore the importance of holding these auctions for bringing happiness and satisfaction to customers," said Sultan Al Marzooki, director of vehicles licensing at the RTA Licensing Agency.
Participation in the auction requires opening an account via the RTA website (www.rta.ae). The bidder must have a vehicle registered in Dubai or a driver license issued from Dubai. The bidder has to deposit a security cheque amounting to Dh25,000 and Dh120 as a participation fee at one of RTA's Customers Happiness Centers at Umm Al Romool, Bur Dubai, Deira or Al Tawar Municipal Center. In case of using a credit card, the security amount and auction fee have to be charged through the RTA's website.
Al Marzooki said that the successful bidder has to pay the due amount within 10 working days from the auction closing date by cash or credit card through service providers' centres or RTA's customer happiness centers. Cash payments are acceptable up to Dh50,000; for higher amounts, payment can be made by a certified check/credit card, or online, using a credit card facility. Defaulters will be blacklisted, he added.
"A dedicated team at RTA's call centre has been furnished with all information related to the auction, and stands ready to respond to any public inquiries relating to procedures of participation or payment through the toll-free number 8009090," concluded Al Marzooki.
