The Dubai Police handled 193,521 non-emergency calls in 2016, a top police official has revealed. Captain Mohammed Hamad, director of call centre 901, said the calls included 169,206 enquiry calls, 14,028 calls for technical support for smart applications, 9,844 calls of labour complaints and 343 from dealers.
Captain Mohammed explained that the centre succeeded in achieving its goal, including easing the pressure on Dubai Police emergency number 999.
Through the non-emergency number, the police managed to communicate in a better way with the public and provide them better services and help in various situations.
The centre also conducted more than 80,000 chat conversations during the year. The service enables free-of-cost communication with the Dubai Police not only for those inside the UAE but also for those who are outside the state, he said, adding that this initiative was part of the Dubai government's smart services strategy.
He said that the Dubai Police are keen to communicate with the public and provide better services to them through various communication channels. "The call centre always responds to public enquiries in English and Arabic and receive complaints and suggestions. It's keen to resolve people's problems and refer their suggestions to the concerned departments in the Dubai Police," said Captain Mohammed.
