Speaking at the opening of the Malaysian Week at the hotel's Sevillo's restaurant, Moin Kandil, General Manager of the Millennium - Abu Dhabi, said the event was important - both for the hotel and for Tourism Malaysia, with visitors having a great opportunity to experience authentic Malaysian food, prepared by three chefs specially brought for the event.

The opening night extravaganza, which also featured some traditional dances from Malaysia, and had an interesting tea serving demonstration by one of the visiting chefs, saw hotel staff, all dressed in colourful Malaysian traditional shirts and regalia, welcoming guests. According to Syed Muhadzir Jamallulail, Director of Tourism Malaysia in Dubai, the joint promotion between Malaysia Airlines, Tourism Malaysia, and the Millennium Hotels in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in conjunction with the Malaysian Embassy, was aimed at strengthening partnerships with local organisations in promoting Malaysia's varied cultural attractions and touristic potential.

He said there would be live cooking demonstrations of Malaysia's famous dishes like 'Beef Rendang' (braised beef cube with coconut milk and spices), 'Roti Canai' with vegetable curry, and 'Ayam Percik' (barbequed chicken with creamy and spicy gravy) to name a few.

A spectacular cultural dance performance by 15 dancers who will perform twice daily during the festival, at 9.30pm., and at 10.30pm is also scheduled. Diners can also enter a lucky draw that entitles two winners to free round trip tickets (Dubai-Kuala Lumpur-Dubai) courtesy of Malaysia Airlines, with one winner each to be selected from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
