AADMA told to pay Dh250, 000 in compensation

AL AIN — The Al Ain Civil Court has ordered the Al Ain Department of Municipalities and Agriculture and the management of Green Mubazzarah Swimming Pool to pay Dh250,000 to the family of Nour Ahmed Mohammed Al Satry as compensation.

Nour, a seven-year-old Jordanian girl, it may be recalled drowned under tragic circumstances in the Al Mubazzarah swimming pool in Ain Al Fayda, near Jabal Hafeet, last year.

The court session which delivered the verdict was headed by Judge Adil Idriss.

Ahmed Al Saatry, Nour's father, had filed a case against AADMA and the Mubazzarah Swimming Pool administration, citing negligence and the absence of basic precautionary facilities, which contributed to the tragedy last August.

The accident occurred on Sunday, August 7, last year when Nour left her sisters stealthily and returned to the swimming pool after it was closed. A little later, the swimming pool's overseer heard Nour's sisters crying. She hurried to the spot only to find Nour's body floating in the pool.

A case report issued by the Department of Criminal Evidences at the Al Ain Police Directorate noted that although the swimming pool is 140 cm in depth, there were no lifeguards or rescue equipment available at the pool site at the time of the tragedy.
