The mounted police force has resumed its operations in Abu Dhabi, following a 10-year halt, according to Mohammed Khalfan Al Romaithi, Commander General of Abu Dhabi Police, local news agency wam reported.
Al Romaithi said at the relaunching ceremony that the force will begin operations with 300 mounted policemen, with 60 riders patrolling different areas of Abu Dhabi, and the rest to be deployed gradually in Al Ain and the Western Region.
"The mounting police force will contribute in supporting emirate's other police forces tasks of fighting crime and ensuring security and safety of the community members," he added.
