ABU DHABI — An Abu Dhabi-based Urdu poetess Tasnim Abidi has won the best poetry book award for 2008 from the Urdu Markaz International, a literary society in Los Angeles, US, for her latest collection of poetry Tamasha (Spectacle), according to a message received by the poetess from Nayyar Jahan, chairperson of Urdu Markaz International.
The American literary society, which has been promoting Urdu literature for two decades, gives prizes to best books of prose and poetry published outside the sub-continent every year.
