Malayalam actor Dileep will be in police custody for two days in a case related to the abduction of a popular south Indian actress, reports say.
The Angamaly Judicial Magistrate court on Wednesday granted police the custody of Dileep, who was earlier lodged in Aluva sub jail. The actor's bail plea will be considered by the court only after the end of the custody period.
During the custody period, the police want to take Dileep to Thrissur and Kochi, the locations where the plot was suspected to be hatched.
The cops want to take the actor to these locations as part of collecting evidence. They also want to find out whether more people were involved in the conspiracy.
The leading actress, who had a fall out with Dileep after the latter's marital discord, was returning from a shooting schedule when she was abducted and assaulted for two hours in a moving car.
Last week, police had questioned the actor and his close aide Nadirshah for 13 hours in connection with the case. Turning the case more murkier, the police had raided the shop run by Dileep's wife Kavya Madhavan - also an actress. And there were unconfirmed reports that the tape in which the main accused Pulsar Suni had recorded the gruesome crime was found from the shop.
A letter allegedly written by Suni from prison to Dileep seeking financial support had surfaced, prompting the police to reopen the conspiracy case.
Dileep, on his side had vehemently denied of having any connection with the accused, and pleaded innocence. He had also lodged a complaint to police that he was being blackmailed by Sunil.
