Two supervisors from ADEZ joined 18 teachers from nine different Abu Dhabi schools to participate in a preparation course for Module One of the Cambridge ESOL Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) teaching award. On completion of the course, the participants wrote the exam for this module of the TKT.

The training programme recognises the growing need for continuing education for teachers and for them to keep abreast of the latest teaching methodology. The British Council hopes that the sessions and support materials from the training programme will be used by the participants to pass on their knowledge to other teachers in their schools.

The course covered language and background to language learning and teaching. Fawzi Marreez, an English Teacher at the Al Shawamek Basic School, commented, “The training course is up to date and I think it is essential that every teacher should attend.”

Wafaa Genady, Supervisor of English, Abu Dhabi Education Zone, added, “All parts of the course were practical and useful for us as teachers. All the concepts were based on a scientific foundation.”

Further courses are being planned by the British Council as part of its English Language Teaching programme.
