Admission of expat children to govt schools is under study

FUJAIRAH — The UAE Minister of Education Dr Hanif Hassan has disclosed that the Ministry of Education (MoE) is preparing a project to consider the issue of accepting the sons and daughters of expatriates to join government schools.

He pointed out that the issue is still under study as he wished to reach a decision before the beginning of the next academic year.

Dr Hassan clarified that the MoE will deal strictly with teachers caught giving private tuition.

The declarations came during a visit he paid to the emirate of Fujairah to inspect and stand upon the final exams of this academic year at both Muhammad bin Hamad Secondary School and the Islamic Scientific Academy.

As for the termination of services of eight teachers since they were charged with giving private tuition lessons, the minister stated: “There is no way to surrender the decision taken against those teachers, asserting that such a resolution had not been issued until they investigated the case in order to be certain of the accuracy of the allegation.”
