Adnoc Distribution opened Al Madar service station, its first re-branded station in Sharjah on Tuesday, following an agreement signed with Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) earlier this year. The agreement authorises Adnoc Distribution to acquire 75 service stations as well as the Sharjah Terminal Depot (Port Khalid) in the Emirate of Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.

Adnoc Distribution plans to expand the number of service stations it runs in the country to 400 in the next two years, doubling its assets since 2010, when Adnoc Distribution had just 180 service stations.
The opening ceremony of the re-branded Al Madar service station was attended by Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of Adnoc Distribution, in the presence of government officials from the Sharjah Government.
The acquisition agreement mandates Adnoc Distribution to continue working with Emarat on the internal and external redesigning works of the acquired stations. Following the re-branding exercise, the new signage will allow the public to identify the service stations as Adnoc-owned facilities. The overhauling work also includes upgradation of all facilities at the premises such as Adnoc Oasis. The company will retain the same fuel products it retailed prior to the acquisition.
“We are glad to announce the forthcoming operations of the freshly re-branded Al Madar service station. The opening gains added significance given the fact that it is the first service station to commence operations following the acquisition agreement with Emarat. Adnoc Distribution has utilised its expertise to leverage the station’s existing facilities, especially the retail and technical services, to fulfill our customer needs and enhance the overall experience for visitors,” Al Dhaheri said.
The re-branding process of all acquired service stations — 30 in Sharjah, 17 in Ras Al Khaimah, 12 in Fujairah, 10 in Ajman and six in Umm Al Quiwain — is expected to be completed within the next five years. -afkarali@khaleejtimes.com
