Adnoc waiting for site allocations in Dubai

The identification of the sites to set up the 10 service stations will be followed by an engineering, procurement and construction tender.

Abu Dhabi’s oil marketing and distribution company, Adnoc Distribution, is awaiting site allocations by the authorities in Dubai for the eight petrol stations, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, Chief Executive Officer of Adnoc Distribution, said.

The identification of the sites to set up the 10 service stations will be followed by an engineering, procurement and construction tender, the CEO said, without giving any time line.

Adnoc Distribution will set up 11 service stations in Dubai. One petrol station will service the boats and ships on the Dubai Creek. So far, it has received site locations on Emirates Road and Shaikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. The construction work will start only after that, he said.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2014, Al Dhaheri said he believed with the Expo 2020 seven years away, the petroleum distribution and marketing infrastructure has to be developed to meet the requirements of an estimated 20 million visitors.

After securing site allocations, the petrol stations can be designed and built in 12 months.

On expansion into the Northern Emirates, he said: “The legal work is almost complete on the acquisition of the 75 service stations.”

Out of this, two petrol pumps have already been rebranded.
