Speaking to Khaleej Times, several passengers who had travelled from Dubai to Peshawar during the Eid holidays, said their baggage was still missing.
"I travelled from Dubai to Peshawar on December 27 on an Aero Asia flight. On reaching my destination, I discovered that my baggage was still in Dubai. I got really upset because I was carrying Eid gifts for my family, and when I talked to the Aero Asia staff in Peshawar, they threatened me, and even said that I could approach the court," alleged Mohammed Khan.
"I was appalled by their behaviour, and am still waiting for my lost luggage. I have no idea where it is," Khan, who returned from his vacation recently, said, adding: "I have talked to people in the Dubai office as well, but they too are not of much help."
Mohammed Murad, Resident Director of Aero Asia for Gulf Region, said: "Eid is a period when flights are packed. This year, the weather was particularly bad and flight diversions were expected and in such cases, we have payload restrictions. Therefore, some baggage was offloaded at the operational destination."
He said there might have been some isolated cases of misplaced baggage due to damage to tags.
"According to our information, all offloaded baggages have been cleared," he said, while admitting that the baggage might be in Pakistan at present.
Another disgruntled passenger M Shakeel said: "I had booked a seat for Peshawar on December 6 for January 4, but when I reached the airport, I was told by the Aero Asia staff that my uplift coupons had not arrived, and therefore I could not travel."
Shakeel said he was then sent back home and asked to come the next day i.e. January 5. "Coupons are not my responsibility. So I travelled on January 5 — from Dubai via Doha to Peshawar, but when I reached Peshawar, I learnt that my luggage was still in Dubai," he said.
He said several other passengers had also complained at Peshawar Airport about the same issue.
"I returned to Dubai on January 15 after spending Eid at home, and so far, I have no knowledge about my missing luggage," Shakeel said, adding: "I have also been treated roughly by their staff."
