Air Arabia begins flight to Kochi

SHARJAH — Air Arabia LLC, the first and only low-fares airline in the Middle East and North Africa and the 1st International low-fares airline to fly to India, made its inaugural flight to Kochi on May 1 amid fanfare and celebrations.

Air Arabia's CEO Adel Ali led a delegation of senior officials from UAE, media representatives and guests on the first flight and was warmly received in Kochi by Vayalar Ravi, Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, besides other officials and Press. Air Arabia has commenced operations to Kochi with four flights a week from May 1 and then daily from May 12. Every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday flights depart Sharjah at 10.20pm to arrive in Kochi at 3.45pm and then depart Kochi at 4.30am to arrive in Sharjah at 7.10am. From May 12 flights depart Sharjah at 1pm to arrive in Kochi at 1825, then depart Kochi at 7.10pm and arrive back in Sharjah at 9.50pm.

Blood donated

DUBAI — A large number of Amlak Finance employees joined hands yesterday to donate blood in coordination with the Department of Health and Medical Services. The aim was to help raise the amount of usable blood in Dubai to be used in treating prevalent diseases such as thalassaemia and cancer. Mohammed Al Hashimi, Managing Director and CEO, Amlak Finance said: “There have been reports that hospitals and blood banks are having a difficult time meeting the demand for blood to help treat needy patients.”

Scout activities

DUBAI — The Scout troops of Al Mawakeb School celebrated the successful completion of an eventful year. Among a host of activities organised by the Al Mawakeb School Scouts included horses riding, visit to polo club, carting and paintball shooting. Camping was yet another important activity. Some of the destinations in this year's camping included Hatta, Wadi, Jebel Ali Beach and Aweer. With 500 members, the Scouts were grouped into Ashbal, Zahrat, Murshidat, Kashafeh, Raedat and Jawaleh troops. Though each group had a separate target, when in need, they always join together to assist each other.
