Ajman Maps out Strategy for Development

AJMAN — Development of infrastructure and related services in accordance with international standards, protection of environment and preservation of local values and traditions have been accorded top priority in Ajman’s five-year strategic plan.

Announcing the 2009-2013 strategic plan on Monday, Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, said that services will be developed keeping in view the international standards of excellence.

The plan’s objective is to make sustainable development a practice to provide the best and excellent services to nationals and residents by making optimum use of the resources available.

The Director-General of Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning (ADMP), Ali Abdullah Al Hamrani, said the strategic plan would focus on improving the infrastructure in order to keep pace with requirements of the rapidly increasing population and the strides being made in the construction and real estate sector.

Under the plan, 20 per cent of the emirate’s areas would be re-developed every year, and road networks would be expanded by 70 per cent.

The plan aims at increasing ADMP’s annual income by 30 per cent to cover the municipality’s expenditure. It also includes training to enhance the skills and performance of ADMP’s employees so that they could provide better and efficient services to the public.

Preservation of heritage monuments and expansion of green areas in the emirate, too, would be given due attention.
