Amna Al Shamsy, Head of the Private Education Department at the AAEZ, said the zone had formed a committee to investigate the case. "The AAEZ will submit a report to the ministry to take action against the institute which has violated several laws."

She said correspondence courses or distance learning and online degrees are not recognised in the UAE.

The institute, offering three master's degree programmes and certificates for which, it claims, are attested by the US embassy, had been given 14 days to follow the rules failing which it would have to pay a fine of Dh 10, 000.
