AL AIN — The country’s largest animal park, Al Ain Zoo, has extended its visiting hours for Eid Al Adha coinciding with the 40th National Day celebrations.

According to the zoo, during Eid holidays, the doors will open for 12 hours from 10am to 10pm. “The extended hoursgive visitors the opportunity to view the zoo’s diverse animal collection and experience many of its fun activities, allowing families the time to make the most of this festive holiday. Al Ain Zoo’s recent additions and encounters ensure that every visit reveals something new,” a statement from the zoo said on Wednesday.

Continuing through Eid is the popular Giraffe Feeding experiencewhich takes place five times daily in a specially designed area next to the Reptile House. This unique and interactive wildlife experience allows both young and old alike to enjoy the magnificent giraffe up-close and marvel at their long tongues grabbing treats such as carrots or lettuce.

Commenting on the Eid festivities,Fatima Al Za’abi, Section Head, Admissions, said:“Al AinZoo is a fun, family destination dedicated to education and conservation in a natural outdoor environment. We look forward to opening our gates to a large number of guests who will be coming to our zoo from around the country and region during Eid Al Adha.

“Last year,the zoo saw34,427people during Eid Al Adha and this year, we expect an even larger crowd to enjoy our unique zoo especially as the weather cools down. We have been actively preparing our programmes and services in order to provide the best possible experience and are confident that our new activities and encounters will be a source of both enjoyment and enrichment for guests of all ages.”

Another attraction for children is the new ‘Elezba’, the farm-style petting zoo designed to encourage young guests to get upclose to domesticated furry and feathered animals, especially its newest additions such asrabbits, ponies and buggies.

A special skill game area will be a new feature at the zoo this Eid, with various prizes to be won.
