AL AIN — Visitors at the Al Ain Zoo can get a chance to come up-close and personal with the sanctuary’s animal residents through two activities scheduled to start from the first day of Eid Al Fitr holidays.
A Giraffe Feeding station, set beside the Reptile House, will open its gates to let both children and adults feed the long-necked creatures on their own. The venue will also feature a petting zoo, titled ‘Elezba’, which has been designed as a local farm where visitors can interact with farm animals such as sheep, goats, camels, llamas, chicken and ducks.
Visitors will be able to touch, pet and feed the animals special snacks available at the food and beverage stall at the farm’s entrance.
“The coming Eid holidays mark an exciting change in how visitors see and experience our zoo. Al Ain Zoo is one of the UAE’s favourite wildlife destinations and with new animal encounters and special experiences, it offers a great fun family day out, whilst teaching young visitors more about wildlife and conservation,” said Muna Aldhaherie, manager of the Education Centre of Al Ain Zoo.
The Giraffee feeding station will operate five times a day while the petting zoo will run from 11am to 8pm everyday.
Other attractions during the holidays include a special parrot show between 3pm and 5pm at the Education Centre.
A bird show, the venue’s popular event held at 7.15pm and 8.45pm featuring birds of prey, will mesmerise audiences with their flying skills. The zoo’s timings during Eid holidays will be from 10am to 10pm.
