With a capacity to accommodate up to 5,000 people, the new centre was inaugurated by Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Deputy Ruler Minister of Finance last month.
The new centre is expected to ease the overcrowding problem at the Al Maktoum centre since everyone requiring a work/residence permit in the UAE has to undergo medical fitness tests for diseases such as Hepatitis B, HIV, Syphilis, Tuberculosis and Leprosy.
“We expect to receive at least 3,000 applications per day at the centre,” said Maisa. Currently, Dohms carries out 50,000 tests per year at all its centres, while 6,000 vaccines are administered daily.
Al Maktoum Hospital will be converted into a heritage site.
