Aldo initiative wants Dubai residents to gives shoes to needy

How would you feel if you knew the shoes you've never really worn and are taking up space in your closet, can actually get a kid to school. The boots that are perhaps too tight for your feet could be the confidence booster that a new mother needs to start her life afresh.
When it comes to generosity, the UAE is considered one of the most generous countries in the world and this spirit of 'placing oneself in the other person's shoes (especially if he or she need's help)' is taken up by leading international retailer of fashion footwear, Aldo. And today (September 3) Aldo is all set to give your worn shoes a new purpose.
In a bid to give back to the community, Aldo UAE has partnered with Red Crescent for a unique charity initiative, #AldoSolemates. The initiative encourages customers to give away any pair of shoes to people in need. "Aldo loves those who care enough to help and we do so by giving you a piece of us, a brand new Aldo pair for the kindness in you, said Richa Nair, senior marketing manager at Aldo.
There are a number of people around the world in need of a pair of shoes. For this purpose, Aldo has invited its customers to donate any pair of shoes and rest assured those kickers are going to someone who really needs them with the help of the Red Crescent team. What's more is that by donating your shoes, you receive a brand new Aldo pair in return!
The event is scheduled to take place at the world's biggest Aldo store at the Dubai Festival City Mall only on Saturday (today) from 10am to 12 noon. Those who come after 12 noon to donate shoes will get a flat 50% of on Aldo's brand new fall collection.
So come and donate your old pair of shoes but in a good, wearable condition and for your kind act, Aldo will give you a brand new pair of Aldo shoes. "And that is why our tag line says 'Pay it forward'.
Your shoes could be of any brand but in a decent condition that would protect the feet and also have some fashion quotient to it. We would love boots, sandles and basics.
"As a brand we believe that we really need to give back to the society and bring about happiness in people's lives considering what is the happening around the world. And not only as a brand we want to involve our customers in spreading this happiness across," Richa added.
With the right shoes, they say you can conquer the world. How about helping someone to conquer, if not the world, the unending miles that they need to take every day to get a pail of drinkable water.
So as you put away your summer shoes and shine up your winter boots, check to see if there are any lightly worn shoes cluttering up your closet that could make a difference in the life of someone in need.
