Dubai - Dubai’s airports are adapting to the emirate’s increasingly global passenger base and are all set to make announcements in up to 25 languages, the Dubai Airports announced on Tuesday.

The new system will standardise all boarding announcements and improve voice quality, making it easier for passengers to hear the information they need.

Currently, announcements are made in 12 languages in Concourse A of the Dubai International Airport, while passengers at open gates at Concourse D, Terminal 2 and Al Maktoum Airport are able to receive announcements in ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) standard languages, such as English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian and Mandarin.

The new policy supports Dubai Airports’ “silent airport” policy by making automated announcements specific to individual passenger boarding gates, premium lounges and transfer desks.

“The multilingual system also recognises that we cater to passengers from across the globe,” said Chris Garton, EVP - Operations, Dubai Airports.

The new announcement system is already operational inside Concourse A, and is expected to be completely operational across both airports by August.
