Art for a noble cause

DUBAI — Rewaq Ousha bint Hussein Cultural Centre opened a painting exhibition for artist Walid Tawfik at BurJuman Centre on Thursday.

The exhibition, whose proceeds will be donated for charity, is held under the patronage of Dr Mouza Ghubash, Chairman of Rewaq Ousha bint Hussein Cultural Centre, Head of Al Rewaq Charity Association. It is slated to run for two weeks.

“This is the first time we organise an exhibition outside the centre. We usually hold art exhibitions at the centre. We take part in the cultural and humanitarian endeavours. It is also a contribution to Dubai Cultural Council,” said Dr Ghubash.

“We want to highlight the talents of Arab artists in general and UAE artists in particular. In the same time we harness that target for a noble cause which is to help the needy and poor in UAE. In the coming days we will host more art works by different artists,” Dr Ghubash added.

Tawfik, a renowned artist in the domain of plastic art, thanked the centre for sponsoring his exhibition. “It is a great pleasure for me and I am very grateful that I have been given the opportunity to showcase my artworks at BurJuman. I am based in Dubai for almost 17 years and I had already displayed my paintings at many art galleries. However, this is the first time there is a collaboration work with Rewaq Ousha bint Hussein Cultural Centre.”
