The government has proposed to reorganise Jammu and Kashmir, carving out two separate Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Monday.
The Union Territory for Jammu and Kashmir will have a legislature but there will be no Assembly in Ladakh, Shah said in a statement.

He said this had been done in view of constant threats of cross border terrorism.
The Union Territories of Ladakh was a long pending demand of the people of the region and the decision was aimed at fulfilling the aspiration of the local population, the minister said.

Doval expected to visit Kashmir: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is expected to visit Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the security situation even as all the three services are on high alert to deal with any fallout of the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories and withdrawal of special status to the state.
In the run-up to the decision to reorganize the state, Doval had reviewed the situation and additional troops were sent to the Kashmir Valley following his meetings with state administration officials.
After Doval, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also likely to tour the area after the end of Parliament session.

Centre plans major investment summit in Kashmir: After the abrogation of Article 370, the government has planned a major investment summit in Jammu and Kashmir in October which will be attended by all the prominent leaders of India.??
Sources said the summit is expected to take place around Dussehra as the government believed that scrapping of Article 370 will create conducive atmosphere for investments in the region.

A fresh advisory has been issued, over an existing one, to ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the mass-rapid rail network that runs across the National Capital Region, the security officials said.

Pakistan's foreign minister has rejected India's revocation of Kashmir's special constitutional status, saying the move violates a UN resolution. The notification also made clear that all the provisions of the Constitution as amended from time to time, shall apply in relation to the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the exceptions and modifications subject to which they shall so apply.
It also added a clause (4) to Article 367 which said,"(4) For the purposes of this Constitution as it applies in relation to the State of Jammu and Kashmir -
(a) references to this Constitution or to the provisions thereof shall be construed as references to the Constitution or the provisions thereof as applied in relation to the said State;
(b) references to the person for the time being recognized by the President on the recommendation of the Legislative Assembly of the State as the Sadar-i-Riyasat of Jammu and Kashmir, acting on the advice of the Council of Ministers of the State for the time being in office, shall be construed as references to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir;
(c) references to the Government of the said State shall be construed as including references to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir acting on the advice of his Council of Ministers; and
(d) in proviso to clause (3) of Article 370 of this Constitution, the expression "Constituent Assembly of the State referred to in clause (2)" shall read "Legislative Assembly of the State"."
