The Indian labourer, identified by the Civil Defence as M.K.L, died before Civil Defence personnel could come to his rescue.

According to the Technical Investigation Section of the General Directorate of the Civil Defence, a rescue team retrieved the body of the man, who worked for a general contracting company in Ras Al Khaimah.

The worker was on duty at a construction site when the mishap took place.

Three UAE nationals — M.M.N, M.A.J and A.J.A — were injured in a traffic accident, involving three cars, that took place on the same day in Abu Dhabi. A Civil Defence team took the injured men to the Shaikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), where they were treated for the injuries, which turned out to be minor.

In another accident the same day, this one in the Al Hudyba region of RAK, an Egyptian national identified as ADJ was wounded when his car collided with a truck. He was rushed to Saqir Hospital. Civil Defence officials refused to say anything about his health condition.

Other mishaps that occurred across the emirates same day also included a car accident in Abu Dhabi in which a Moroccan man identified as S.M.R sustained moderate injuries. The Civil Defence team carried the man to Saqir Hospital for medical intervention.

Tuesday also witnessed several fires that broke out in different parts of the country, said the Civil Defence. In one incident, a car was completely gutted when it caught fire on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai road. Material loss incurred was estimated at Dh18,000.

In another incident of fire, a house was razed to the ground in the Al Satwa locality of Dubai. No casualties were reported. Civil defence estimated material loss at Dh4,000.

DUBAI — It was divine intervention, which saved a 22-year-old Asian, identified only as M.A., from certain death after he rammed his car into road barriers along Al Emarat road.

The speeding Asian was lucky to come out alive since the barrier tore through the car metal and could have impaled him. A police patrol reached the accident site and had to use hydraulic scissors to cut through the metal to rescue the victim. He was later airlifted by the Dubai Police Air Wing to Rashid Hospital. The rescue operation was supervised by First Lieutenant Tahnoun Humaid Abdullah, member of Dubai Police Operations Department.
