Islamabad: Former president and PPP co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari has described as "destructive" MQM chief Altaf Hussain's politics and advised him to shun negativity.
Reacting harshly to the latest criticism by Altaf Hussain accusing him of betraying the MQM, Zardari said it was the MQM which did not honour its promises and backed out of solemn pledges made to the PPP.
"Issuing non-serious statements and act of levelling false allegations on a daily basis does not behove him (Altaf Hussain)," the former president said in a statement issued in response to Altaf's address to party workers saying he had always showed 'patience' even though Zardari had 'deceived me' twice and 'abused me' through his party office-bearers.
"Altaf Hussain's negative politics will harm MQM itself," Zardari said.
The PPP co-chairman also took strong exception to Altaf Hussain's call for dividing Sindh into two provinces.
He claimed that PPP had always talked to the MQM on two conditions that there would be no discussion on the division of Sindh and that the party would cooperate with the Muttahida in its efforts to make Karachi a peaceful city.
