RAK Bangladesh English Private School, a community school that has been offering affordable tuition fees in Ras Al Khaimah since 1991, will be relocated to the Academic Zone of Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ). The larger school facility will be constructed on an 8,170 square metre land in Al Mamourah, Ras Al Khaimah
RAK Bangladesh English Private School Ras Al Khaimah is the only Bangladeshi community school in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Established in 1991, the school teaches upto grade 12 in line with the Bangladeshi curriculum.
The expansion of the Bangladeshi Government-financed K-12 school was triggered by the continuously growing demand from students in the emirate. On its new location, the school will be able to accommodate a maximum of 1,000 students, adding 58 per cent more in capacity, from 550 students currently.
During her visit to Abu Dhabi in 2019, Honourable PM of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina assured that her government will provide necessary support to modernise the school. Soon after, the Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Bangladesh Consulate in Dubai took initiatives along with the support of Bangladeshi community for the necessary development of the school. Accordingly, a new land has been leased from RAKEZ and necessary approvals taken from the authorities in the emirate.
A signing ceremony for the establishment of the new school facility was held at RAKEZ headquarters between the economic zone's Group CEO Ramy Jallad, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the UAE Muhammad Imran and the school authorities. Consul General of Bangladesh in Dubai Mohammed Iqbal Hussain Khan, the RAKEZ Academic Zone team and several high-profile Bangladeshi delegates were present on the occasion.
During his official visit to the UAE in February 2020, the Minister for expatriates' welfare and overseas employment H.E. Imran Ahmed visited the land and the school and also met with chairman of RAKEZ. It is expected that the construction at the new place will be completed during the celebration of Mujib Year. The Bangladeshi community, both in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, are extending their supports to modernise the school for their children's better education.
