Financial service provider Barclays has presented an award to the Dubai Police recognising their efforts in combating financial crimes in the emirate.
The award was received by Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, and his team at the General Department of Criminal Investigation.
The Dubai Police force has supported the bank’s financial crime team on multiple occasions and has been heavily involved in creating the framework to better tackle financial offences which have included serious fraud and money laundering.
The award is a gesture of gratitude to the law-enforcement authority for their persistent efforts towards swiftly resolving crimes against the bank and working with the team consistently at all critical times.
Major-General Al Mazeina said, “We are glad to be able to work with Barclays in our fight against financial crime. The advantages of such teamwork are immense and immeasurable. We are thankful for this recognition from Barclays and proud to be working together with private businesses towards a safer business and consumer environment.”
Rezwan Mirza, managing director, head of corporate banking, UAE and GCC, at Barclays said: “We are proud to be able to cooperate with the Dubai Police in the fight against financial crime and are humbled to present this award to the chief of police and his team.
Protecting its employees and customers is a priority for the banking industry.
Crimes affecting the banking sector range from robbery to high tech and highly organised fraud operations. Barclays continues to work closely with law-enforcement agencies to combat financial crime in the UAE and the region.”
