The Vicco Group was established in 1952 by the late K V Pendharkar. It has today emerged as a leading producer of Ayurvedic medicines and products. The group, which has production units at Dombivli (near Mumbai), Nagpur and Goa, has a strong presence in overseas markets across the globe.
According to Sanjeev Pendharkar, Director of Vicco Laboratories, the company won several awards including the Golden Globe Tiger award, the National Industrial Excellence award, the Quality Brand award, and an award for Corporate Excellence.
The company recently launched Vicco Narayani cream, which has anti-inflammatory properties and provides relief to patients suffering from joint pains, muscular pains, coughs and colds. It contains various oils including rai (brown mustard seeds), eucalyptus, devadaru (Himalayan Cedar), chahapati (a type of herb), rosha (an ingredient derived from grass), clove, cinnamon and pudina (mint leaves).
The Vicco Narayani cream will be available in the UAE market soon. "Our endeavour is to make people conscious of the health problems involved in consuming products that are full of chemicals," Pendharkar notes.
Vicco also produces herbal toothpaste, turmeric vanishing cream and shaving cream. The ingredients used to produce these Ayurvedic products are derived from medicinal plants and herbs. Unlike chemicals, they have no side effects, explains Pendharkar.
The company exports its products to the Gulf, the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius, Fiji, Cyprus, West Indies and Iceland.
