Islamabad: In a radical departure from his father Asif Zardari's policy of " reconciliation", Pakistan People's party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has unleashed a frontal attack on the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government calling it's policies as "anti-people and pro-capitalists".
He said the city of Lahore has been handed over to the "buddies of terrorists".
Speaking to party workers in Punjab capital, Lahore, the PPP leader said rulers in Punjab were nothing less than "punishment for the masses," urging them to change themselves with the changing times.
Calling the provincial administration "anti-farmer and a government of capitalists", Bilawal said poor farmers' earnings were looted by the Nawaz league.
The PPP patron-in-chief had arrived in Lahore earlier last week to hold series of meetings with the party's provincial leadership, aiming to revamp the party in Punjab.
"Mian Sahib (CM Shahbaz Sharif) you said change my name if I fail to provide uninterrupted electricity within six months of coming into power. Failed to do so even after two and half years. Now tell me by what name should I call you."
Ruling out reconciliation with what he called "enemies of farmers and labourers", the PPP supremo said no understanding can be reached with those who do not raise the Kashmir issue.
"We are heirs of martyrs and you are hurling allegations of terrorism at us," he said.
Besides poor farmers and labourers, the traders' community was also protesting and holding shutter-down strikes against wrong policies of the incumbent government, said Bilawal. "Mian Sahib motorways and buses don't formulate a country, the state is comprised of masses," he said, adding that the people and parity were not the part of the government's agenda.
"Those who talked of breaking the begging bowl are now looking for a way out by seeking loans."
He said while the opponents were being targeted for political victimisation, the "big fish" among the ruling PML-N were freely indulging in kickbacks and commissions. The Asghar Khan case ( in which Sharif brothers were shown receiving financial assistance from ISI to block PPP in the 1990 polls,) is stilling pending in the Supreme Court". He also criticised the government for "turning a blind eye towards the 'Indian aggression' on the Line of Control.
