The facility, which could earlier be availed only by visiting an RTA customer care centre, is now available to any motorist who has an account on the RTA websitewww.rta.ae. The RTA currently has three main online services for the public — vehicle registration, licence renewal and payment of fines. Though the online vehicle registration service has been available for the last six months, it only found a few tech savvy customers. The launch
of the black points management feature comes as the RTA plans to offer more
online facilities to customers in its attempt get more people to use its e-services. “The online registration and other facilities have been available for the last six months and there has been a steady growth in the users. Initially, we didn’t market the services very aggressively because we wanted to try with a few users only. Now that we have done the necessary trials and received very good feedback from customers we are urging more people to use it,” said the CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan. Buoyed by a positive response and adding more user-friendly features to the system, the Licensing Agency is planning to market the facilities more aggressively over the next few weeks. “With our basic facilities doing well, we have upgraded the system to handle more traffic and added some very nice feature to it,” added Bahrozyan. One of the key features is the introduction of an electronic dashboard for every registered user, wherein he/she can find all his traffic details. “Once a person logs in after creating an account, he will have all his traffic related information on a single screen. Details of all the vehicles he owns, the number plates he owns, expiry of his licence or vehicle registration, the number of black points and fines he has etc. will be available on one screen,” Bahrozyan added. There will also be facilities to change a person’s profile data like his mobile number, residential address etc. Bahrozyan urged people to keep their personal date up-to-dates saying, “It is very important for us to communicate with people.” He also said the black point management facility will help people save a lot of time. Through this facility the parties concerned have to sign an online declaration instead of going in person to RTA centres, and the system will then transfer the black points from the number plate to the licence of the person concerned.shafaat@khaleejtimes.com
