The child, who had been bed-ridden since birth due to renal failure, ironically died due to medical complications that were not kidney related.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Anas’s sorrowful father Munawwar Hussain, who has just returned to Dubai after burying his son in Lahore said, “Anas had a short but painful existence. He regained consciousness for a short while after the operation, but could not survive. Insiders at the hospital told me that he was physically weak and had been given an overdose of anaesthesia so his death was caused by negligence of doctors. We had all but we got nothing.”

“It’s all in God’s hands,” he added.

In January this year, Khaleej Times had highlighted the plight of Anas after which several well-wishers stepped forward to offer financial assistance to him. Anas urgently needed a kidney transplant as he suffered from chronic renal failure due to obstructive uropathy which was needed as his bladder could not cope with the amount of urine being produced as he grew up.

After his diagnosis at birth, Anas was operated upon at the Al Wasl and vesicostomy and bilateral ureterostomy (which means ‘holes’ were made on his side) was performed on him. Due to this operation, urine seeped through his sides continuously and he had to be kept in a horizontal position all the time with a diaper underneath him.

“Due to the help of generous people, we were able to raise Dh18,000 for his operation, but it was not God’s wish that he survives,” said Hussain.
