"The campaign will encourage women, and they will learn more about the benefits of healthy meals to be taken by the mothers." Ismaeel Ahmed, Head of Ras Al Khaimah Medical Zone said.

The campaign highlighted the effect of alternative milk, and the positive advantages of breast-feeding, which benefits not only the infant, but also the mothers. The WHO indicates that breast-feeding can reduce the woman's risk to several ailments, including ovarian and pre-menopausal breast cancer.

The campaign commenced last Saturday and will continue until today. The activities include guidance to mothers, awareness lectures, and symposium at different clinics in the emirate. The awareness campaign will be extended to Mother and Child Centre, children's clinics, Marmora Health Centre, Paediatric Centre at Sir Hospital, maternity and child health centres. The campaign will also be held in the remote areas on Monday and Tuesday for the women to be acquainted with the importance of breast-feeding.
