DUBAI — Joss Stone’s mission is to invoke the love of storytelling and the spirit of past generation’s musicians for her audience, the British soul sensation said yesterday.
Stone was speaking to the media ahead of her performance today at Desert Rhythm Festival 2007.
The star, who has two triple-platinum albums to her credit and the third “Introducing Joss Stone” released recently, said she would be playing all her favourite tracks when she takes to the stage.
“It’s going to be a best of...,” she said.
For her, this meant more tracks from “Introducing Joss Stone” where she has complete musical control.
She counts Aretha Franklin among her greatest inspirations and said she appreciated older styles of music for their simple lyrics and unrefined talent.
“They said what they had to say,” she said. “Now I feel free to say what I feel.”
