In conjunction with International Women's Day and Mother's Day, the Sharjah Girl Guides yesterday (Thursday) held a special event under the theme 'A Day for my Mother'. Taking place at SGG's headquarters in Sharjah, the event saw the participation of more than 200 brownies and guides and 80 mothers. The activity took place to celebrate the role of mothers in building the family and highlight their important role in forging strong community bonds.
The Sharjah Girl Guides organized this event to enable the Girl Guides' mothers to get together and become acquainted with one another. The event comprised a variety of activities, which saw Guides and their mothers competing in contests that included cake baking and flower arranging. A number of workshops on drawing, cooking, soap-making and mosaic creation were also held.
" We planned the day to bring about greater convergence between mothers and provide a platform where they can meet and get to know each other. The activity enabled mothers to become familiarised with the activities and programmes that the Brownies and Guides undertake during their time in SGG," said Shaikha Alshamsi, Assistant Manager at Sharjah Girl Guides.
Gifts were distributed to the mothers after the event from Bath & Body Works, Karji Perfumes Est., Touch Of Oud, Dr. Nutrition Center, and small cakes.
The guiding movement was first established in Sharjah in 1973 after which it spread to all seven Emirates, giving rise to the Girl Guides Association of the United Arab Emirates in 1979.
After the tournament he aims to reflect on his Pro Journey, evaluate his performances and weigh his options for 2025
