Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police said the new model of Bugatti Veyron will now be part of the Dubai Police luxury fleet.

Al Mazeina added that the number plates of the new car will sport the ‘My Dubai’ logo, the initiative launched by Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, which aims at reflecting the image, history and life in Dubai and showcasing the country as a city of luxury.

The launch of the new car was attended by Major-General Othman bin Nasser Al-Meharj, Director of Public Security at the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia; Major-General Khalid bin Gahrar Al Harbi, Commander of Special Emergency Forces, Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia; Major-General Abdul-Rahman Mohammad Rafi, Director-General, Department of Community Services, Dubai; and Brigadier Pilot Anas Al Matrooshi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Operations for Transport and Rescue.

Al Mazeina said it was the police’s endeavour to modernise their patrols and intensify their presence in important tourist areas. The newly introduced luxury patrol cars belong to the Dubai Government and they have been allocated to the Dubai Police to patrol tourist and heritage areas. They will be stationed near Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Burj Al Arab, Shaikh Mohammed Boulevard and other places frequented by tourists.

He added that the Dubai police will continue the modernisation of its patrols and other services. It is worthy to mention that the Dubai Police had earlier launched other luxury sports vehicles including McLaren MP4-12C, Aston Martin, Bentley and Mercedes, in addition to the two models of Ferrari. The luxury sports car fleet of the Dubai Police also has Lamborghini, Nissan, Bugatti, Volkswagen and BMW. The policemen handling these vehicles have been given special training.
