The Dubai Police Deputy Commander-in-chief Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazina attended Thursday’s ceremony, intended to honour the police winners in the Ministry of the Interior’s Excellence Awards.

Police stations and public administration were ranked first in the evaluation of institutional performance in both 2011 and 2012.

The award results were based on 58 assessment visits for the 2011–12 period, from which reports were generated, identifying strengths and weaknesses.

Dubai Police Total Quality Management Director-General Maj-Gen Dr Abdul Quddus Abdul Razak Obaidli said the Ministry of Interior Awards for Excellence was the embodiment of the aspirations of the Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy and Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

He said the awards motivated employees in both public and private sectors to work for a better society, as well as promoting a culture of excellence.

There were 88 winners honoured, including 69 career excellence winners, and 19 management excellence winners, including the Bur Dubai Police Station which also picked up the top customer service accolade.

Some of the other winners included the Dubai Police General Punitive and Corrective General Department, which picked up an award for the Best Experience in the Field, as well as the Best Correctional Institution in the Application of Policies (at the state level).

The General Department of Airport Security won the category of Best Correctional Institution in the Application of Policies. The categories of Ideal Police Station and Best Website Content were won by Muraqqabat Police Station and the Ideal Partnership prize was won by the General Department of Security Bodies and Emergency and The Dubai Mall, while the General Department of Security bodies and Emergency also picked up the Most Efficient prize.

Other winners on the day included the General Anti-Narcotics Department, the General Department of Operations Room and the General Department of Criminal Investigation (CID), among others.

Individual officers were also recognised for their expertise in criminal investigation, supervision, engineering, administration, customer service and creativity — with one even being named the Ideal Mother.
