As the Roads and Transport Authority continues to add more of its services on to its website.

The facility is already online and can be accessed by both registered as well as non-registered customers of the RTA.

“We are constantly upgrading our online service base and adding new features as and when they are ready. The SPC project has been on trial for the last two months and it’s now live for public,” said Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of RTA’s Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, speaking exclusively to Khaleej Times.

He said the RTA is on the constant lookout to reduce the hassle for motorists of physically going to its customer care centres for every little thing.

“We now have more than 80 per cent of our major services online, including car registration, licence renewal, number plate auction, nol card application and top-up, journey planner, taxi booking, salik top-up, fine payment etc. Our target is to reach 100 per cent soon and we have plans to roll out more Internet as well as mobile services this year,” said Al Madani.

The new facility allows motorists to have all variety and denominations of SPC online. The SPC is one of the means provided by RTA for availing the paid parking services in Dubai.

There are two Category A and Category B cards and each category comes with different denominations and validity periods. Category

A cards could be used to park vehicles in any paid parking zones in Dubai, while Category B cards could used in big parking lots only.

To procure or renew an SPC online, a motorist has to visit RTA website—www.rta.ae — and click on the SPC flash on the main page which will lead the applicant to the SPC page.

Then a costumer, either registered or non-registered, is taken through a three-step process: 1. Confirm information, 2. Choose Delivery 3. Pay.

A registered user has to just feed in his traffic file number in the designated field and all information of his account would be displayed on the dashboard and the person wouldn’t have to feed in any details.

If one already has a card, then just click ‘renew’, choose the mode and date of delivery and pay through your credit or debit card.

If a person wants to buy a new card, then choose the ‘application’, feed in the details (for non-registered users), choose the category and the denomination, followed by delivery date and payment.

Apart from the normal fee depending on the category and denomination of the card, Dh20 is charged for delivery and the delivery date can be chosen by the customer depending on his availability.

In Category A, a 90-day card is available for Dh700, a 180-day card for Dh1,300 and a 365-day card for Dh2,500. In Category B, a 90-day card is available for Dh450, a 180-day card for Dh800 and a 365-day card for Dh1,500.

The SPC is not valid for use in fish market and Dubai Media City. All types of trucks such as pick-up and buses are not allowed to use it.
