Dubai - When the driver tried to argue with the policeman, the cop allegedly abused him.
But this is exactly what happened with Naveen, a cab driver in the south Indian state of Karnataka.
Naveen was ferrying passengers from the city railway station at around 10pm on October 7 when he was stopped by a policeman, who asked him to show his licence and car documents.
And then he was slapped with a Rs100 fine for driving without a helmet!
When he tried to question the policeman, the cop allegedly abused him.
"The policeman started abusing me and insisted that I pay the fine. I told him that I had all the documents and that I drive for an app-based cab company which ensures all the documents are in place. But the police did not heed to my requests. He initially asked for about Rs500 but when I refused to pay up, he fined me for Rs100. When I saw the bill I was shocked to see that he had fined me for not wearing a helmet with the car number KA 25 D 2271 mentioned in the chalan," Naveen said, according to a report in The New Indian Express.
According to the report, many car drivers have in the past too been fined for not wearing helmets due to technical errors in the CCTV cameras, the reprt added.
