Camel Caravan at DSF

DUBAI - The Camel Caravan Exhibition, organised with Dubai Municipality, will be on full display during the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2004. Ten of the life-sized camels were unveiled yesterday at the World Trade Centre roundabout where they will be displayed on and around the roundabout for the next few months.

The Camel Caravan is a modern and popular art exhibition recently introduced to Dubai. The camels, which measure 6 feet 2 inches, will be located in many of Dubai's prime locations throughout the DSF and will culminate in a public art auction in mid April with the proceeds going to children's charities and for the development of art and culture in Dubai.

Saeed Al Nabouda, DSF Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are delighted that this exhibition is coming to Dubai, the camel has been chosen as it represents the heritage of this area. During DSF 2004 all the camels will be on display on the streets and at many prime locations throughout the city. Each of our key sponsors will have their own camel which will be decorated by local, regional or international artists. There is no doubt that the camels, which will be peppered around Dubai during DSF 2004 will add fun and entertainment to the event whilst also helping to support worthy causes."

Ahmed Abdul Karim, Director of Public Parks and Agricultural Department, Dubai Municipality, said: "This activity, which is relatively new for Dubai will have a positive impact for tourists in the area with the unique paintings and designs on the camels offering entertainment and interest. The hospitality and co-operation between Dubai Municipality and DSF in particular is greatly appreciated with the involvement of the Camel Caravan exhibition in DSF, one of the most important events in the country.
