The ban has been imposed following a decree issued by the Minister yesterday. The decree completely forbids the use of normal fishing nets, but permits the use of Al Dafara fishing nets only to catch fish in the area situated about three miles away from the islands and about two miles away from the beach. Violators will be punished as per the federal law No. 23 of 1999 on the exploitation and conservation of fisheries and marine resources in the UAE.
