Dubai - All multi-storey buildings coming up in Dubai must have provision for CCTV cameras as specified by the Dubai Police for securing building licences, the Dubai Municipality has said.
In a move to transform Dubai buildings into smart ones, a circular to this end was issued by the Buildings Department at Dubai Municipality to all contracting companies operating in the emirate.
The circular asks companies to add the provision of CCTV cameras to the applications for licensing new buildings and those under construction as per the standards and specifications endorsed by the Department of Protective Systems (DPS) at the Dubai Police.
Khalid Mohammed Saleh, Director of the Buildings Department, said in a statement that the circular is part of the directives of the Dubai Government to upgrade the standard of services in line with the “most sophisticated international specifications”.
It is also aimed at utilising technology and modern techniques for creating a safe residential and business environment to have the maximum levels of public safety for residents and the society.
“The move is part of the Dubai Municipality’s endeavour to provide buildings with comprehensive electronic systems that cater to the needs of the occupants and users,” he said.
According to conditions set by the municipality, the layouts for the CCTV cameras prepared by companies authorised by the DPS should be enclosed along with the final application for obtaining the licence for constructing multi-storey residential or commercial buildings. -reporters@khaleejtimes.com
